Awesome food in a casual laid back atmosphere. The first time we went I had the eggs Benedict and my husband had the biscuits and gravy. My eggs were poached perfectly and the side of home fries was delicious. My husbands gravy was seasoned well, unlike many other bland biscuits and gravy I have had. The club wrap is also very good and made with quality ingredients. Very friendly family-owned restaurant with awesome staff. Very mom and pop kind of place. Definitely our favorite breakfast/brunch/lunch spot in the Lakewood Ranch area!

Sunday brunch. They were overwhelmed by the business. Service was slow, the eggs were all overcooked, and the presentation was lacking somewhat. I would return but probably during off peak hours.

I attempted to take my 5 year old to lunch after picking him up from preschool last Friday. We walked in and noticed a family with two small children enjoying a late breakfast. Somewhere in the back there was a screaming baby. All things I am used to. I am a mother of three so I know how hit or miss going out to eat can be. That being said I was SHOCKED when the very rude waitress barked at my son for sniffing the pepper shaker. "That's not nice!" she said. Meanwhile the baby next to us had food all over the place making a huge mess. I told her I would clean the pepper shaker. I pulled out a antibacterial wipe from my bag and cleaned the salt and pepper shaker. Clearly the first time that had been done. I left the filthy wipe on the table next to the clean shakers and my son and I left. He said he didn't want to be with the mean lady. When we got in the car he told me that I was the best cook anyway. I was sad because we had been here many MANY times and never actually been disappointed. The food is ok. When you don't want to cook your own breakfast its fine. Its never been the cleanest place...but after seeing what came off of the shakers I wonder how dirty everything else is. We won't be back.

I make my boyfriend take me here every chance I get! I The food is always great and the service is wonderful. I get the buffalo chicken wrap no matter what time of day we visit. He always tries something different and is never dissapointed! Always a great experience at Sea Star!

My husband and I don't get to Sea Star often, but when we do we always enjoy ourselves! The staff is great and attentive and the food is wonderful-we usually come for breakfast and both like the omelettes.

Although Sea Star Cafe's name has changed several times over the past four years, their food has remained consistently good. It's a great place for breakfast or lunch, offering fresh, traditional American fare. There are plenty of newspapers available for people to read for free, as well as television for those who like to watch the morning news (fortunately, sans volume ;-) ).

My favorite local hangout. Great food, adorable atmosphere, excellent portions, just the sort of neighborhood breakfast place we always needed. Five years later since I discovered them and I still go at least once a week and often more frequently than that. My two current favorites are the Greek Omelette and the California Benedict. Both are scrumptious. A nice spot to enjoy a meal alone with your laptop or to share a bite catching up with friends. If you haven't taken the time to try out this beachy themed cozy neighborhood jewel please do. My dogs and I walk over from Greenbrook and take the trails so we can dine al fresco on the patio. They even provide a bowl with water for the pups. Thanks Casey, Matt, Edie and all the staff for being so good to HRH Kate, Pippa and I all these years.

This turned out to be a great option for a local lunch. The owner and staff were friendly and accommodating. The cafe was fresh and nicely decorated. The food was tasty and wonderfully priced. Can't wait to go back for breakfast!

My boyfriend and I have been trying new local places for Sunday breakfast/brunch. We found Sea Star on Google and didn't have a lot of time this weekend, so we decided to try it based on some other reviews and location. We were told to make ourselves comfortable and after sitting at a booth that clearly will never be able to "get" clean, we moved to the counter. The menu had some enticing choices... I had the bagel and lox (your "choice" of bagel in the description); he had the eggs and hash w/home fries (when asked if he wanted onion, he answered yes. Then asked if it was extra. Would have been .25 more which she wasn't even going to disclose). While waiting for our food, we continued to be amazed at what we saw. The establishment was extremely dirty. The staff had plates of food sitting on the counter where customers sat and on a windowsill that they would periodically snack from (one was literally sitting in front of a customer). One customer was at the register paying the bill and when counting out their change, the woman dropped some of the coins, didn't pick them up and short-changed the customer - unbeknownst to them. Our food was incredibly disappointing. The hash had to have come from a can. No seasoning at all. My "choice" of bagel was either white or everything; the onion and tomato were not fresh and the salmon was clearly packaged and low quality. The piece of romaine they garnished the dish with was brown. When paying the bill, we didn't even get a "thank you" or "how was your meal?". Would not recommend this to anyone we know.

I've driven by this place so many times, and finally tried them out a few weeks ago. I had the best fish and chips for lunch, Fresh and crispy. and have gone back a few times since. i need to try the other enticing items on their menu, but I can't help myself, I just keep asking for fish and chips.

I was looking for a different place for breakfast and did a quick Yelp search and found this place in Lakewood Ranch. When I walked in, I had noticed it was probably the cleanest restaurant I have seen in a good long time. Even the ceiling fans appeared to be free of dust. The restaurant was very tastefully decorated and I was greeted by a very charming lady who made a couple of quips about how cold it was in the morning and how I was dressed in shorts in a day that barely reached 40 degrees. The menu had many different things including a coconut french toast and an omelette that you could make yourself with various ingredients. I chose turkey sausage and lox. Now since lox are much more expensive than turkey sausage, I was expecting omelet with about 70 percent sausage and 30 percent lox. But what I received was an omelette full of both ingredients and extremely delicious. There is a small jug of syrup on each table and they use real butter. Even the creamers came with different flavors. Very reasonably priced and just off State Route 70. Well worth the stop.

This is a very average diner, maybe a little better than a Denny's. You can see into kitchen that they use pre made packaged ingredients , hence the hollandaise sauce on eggs Benedict is just ok. The worst part tho was the egg yolks were hard and that ruins the egg Benedict since the best part is the oozing yolk. The waitress should have noticed! The cook messed up! The other neg was toast was burnt and waitress looked at burnt toast, told us it was burnt and served it anyway. How odd! We couldn't eat it, it was so black. They were friendly! But the food is just not worthy. Fortunately we drove on to Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary in Naples, and had a really beautiful walk on their 2.25 mile boardwalk.

It's a little local suburban diner. The food was good and the menu was normal. One day the service was good (not a busy day) and when busy it was really slow. The strange thing was that the owner's baby was behind the service counter in a high chair the whole time.

We have eated at sea star many times and the food is excellent. Not fancy but good wholesome breakfast foot. The staff has been great and provides excellent service. I recommend this restaurant without any reservations to people in the Lakewood Ranch area.

A Gem of a find!!! Tucked away in the back of a strip mall it's not the easiest place to find but worth the effort. Everything is amazing. Try the Lobster Bisque at lunch. I licked my bowl.

I had the Eggs Benedict, and it was pretty good. Overall, the food was good, service was great, and the atmosphere was okay. I'd definitely go back here.

I like that this is a place that goes the extra mile to make things different than other cafes....the coffee's a roast from Tampa (I asked) and the fruit salad is really cut up from local produce. The menu is extensive. The interior is very pretty with the beach colors. These owners have obviously tried, and succeeded, in making this their own. And I appreciate that very much. Try the corned beef hash....an indulgence I don't do very often for the obvious reasons.

Initial Impression My cloaked reviewers that went into the restaurant anonymously showed up at about 8:30 am on a Wednesday morning. When they arrived, there wasn't anyone else in the place but by the time they were leaving, the place had become full of other patrons. Their server was friendly and they thought the ambiance was pleasant. The Food One reviewer ordered pancakes and was warned by the waitress that they were big and that she should probably just have one. She decided not to heed this sage advice and was giving two huge pancakes and consequently wasn't able to finish them! The reviewer who ordered the eggs, bacon and potatoes was pleased with his order though not completely wow-ed. And the reviewer who got the Eggs Benedict said it was tasty and that he really liked the Hollandaise sauce. Overall Impressions They were happy with the service they received and said that if they lived nearby, that this is a place that they would come back to. They just noted that it would be better if it was located a bit closer to the highway and had better, more visible signage.

Large portions! Kids received 2 full size chocolate chips pancakes each and drink their meal ( bacon extra though). My omelet was very good and rye toast delicious. Home fries good too. Nice, friendly service and attentive to our requests. Definitely will return for our Sunday breakfasts!

We were in the area and "Yelping" for a good place to eat for lunch and saw that Sea Star has previous good reviews. SR 70 provides easy access to the restaurant with lots of stores and shops in the area. Lakewood Ranch is a new development and provides a wonderful area to live in the Sarasota Bradenton area. I had the Philly Steak and my wife the chicken sandwitch. We started off with some home made chips which were as good as it gets. Service was friendly and outstanding. We missed the dinner hour (after 1pm) but there were signs this was a local favorate. Bravo...nice job as I don't pass out 4's unless the food is outstanding.......

I have been to Sea Star Café many times and am always impressed! They have the best coffee!! Seriously. I'm a real coffee snob and every single time it's delicious! I love their Cali Eggs Benedict! Their breakfast prices are very affordable and in comparison to some of the more pricey breakfast options in Sarasota it's VERY reasonable. The owners are always kind, attentive, and ensure the quality of their food! I love supporting the local business! I noticed there were a few comments about the friendliness of the staff-- regarding children. I have two small children and have never had ANY issues. The restaurant is next door to a popular daycare and play facility---so if this were more of an issue I'm sure you'd be seeing way more reviews about it. I also don't have children that lick salt shakers, throw food, and cause disruptions to other guests---I think comes from being attentive and aware. Found this funny and maybe you negative reviewer (s) can check it out: scarymommy.com/articles/…

Sea Star is kinda tucked away near the corner of SR 70 & Lakewood Ranch Blvd. It's not a very big space, but there is some seating at the bar and outside in addition to the booths. The food is ok; it's average...not great, not bad. The staff is more of the reason we go there. They're super nice. It's locally owned. Generally speaking the service & food is pretty fast. It's not our first pick typically, but it's not a bad choice if we want to switch it up. I don't eat eggs, so I can't speak about most of the dishes, but they do have precent decent biscuits and gravy.

It's a very homey friendly place. The waitress was friendly and sweet to us. I got the cali benedict. I do recommend this since I love avacado. You can Def tell it's home made since everything seems fresh. Only complained would be the grilled onions with the home fried. Mine was pretty much raw onions. But there's wasn't too much onion given so it wasn't much of a problem. It's a nice place to have breakfast.

Lovely small gem hidden away but worth finding. Diner like atmosphere but with friendly staff and really good food. The omelettes are great. So is the eggs Benedict. They say that the Ruben is good and it is. Worth the drive to find it. Not fancy but just plain good

If you have children and Eddie is working, this place is not for you. What appears to be a FAMILY friendly restaurant in a strip center is clearly not. If you have children and dine there frequently, instead of being greeting with a smile and a hello, you will be greeted with an eye roll. It's such a shame because this little place has great food but unless they do something about their incredibly rude employees, they are going to lose business.

One fine morning on a warm Autumn day I feel my gut become un-satiate I asked myself whatever should I eat? When I chanced upon the Star Cafe of the Sea A little diner tucked away behind all who passes by But explore a bit and then you'll see exactly why A little patio adjacent to the door Seats 15 comfortably, but I think not many more I enter to the dining room, a quaint and lovely sight Of tables and booths and a countertop too, people in mid-bite The room is of bluish hue and touches of white as well An atmosphere of the rustic sea, a feeling of the New England swell You'll sit wherever you may please, and drinks will come forth fast And the ladies may tell a joke or two, from the funny to the crass The comestibles are of simple fare, yet crafted like homemade With eggs and toast and pancakes too, breakfast is simply great A benedict and home fries, or a specialty on the board The omelette called The Works is fine indeed, I had to ask for more But if you so prefer a high tea fare, simply look to the right of the menu and you will see sandwiches to catch your sight If you enjoy a corned beef sandwich, I extol the mighty Reuben Thinly sliced with cheese of Swiss, topped with kraut and Thousand Island May I suggest the house made chips, for they crunch amongst your dentition And a side of house made ranch makes for voracious predation One's mug of caffeinated potation is hardly ever dry If you plan on coming here just once, I'd like to see you try For many a visit, I have been pleased without reserve Accolades I present Sea Star, for five stars they deserve.
